Session # 5 The Future of Mobile Sevices for Learning

Session#5
7-25-09
Looking back at the now seemingly primitive beginnings of technology it is amazing to see the evolution to this point. An unfathomable fact is that it continues to grow and expand; changing our world every step of the way. Once upon a time we felt as if we were living in the "Jetson" age simply because we had a desk top computer in our home. As time progressed our children had a class on their school schedule called"Computer" to help equip them for the changes that were upon us.
However, in today's society no matter what age you are it is almost impossible to go through the day without utilizing technology in some way shape or form. The most commonly used technological device is the cell phone, however it is the computer that is changing and evolving almost daily. Our computers are operating at a faster pace, providing access to websites and information at the touch of a button which enables us to easily connect to the rest of the world.
As a result of this communication is at its highest peak in our society. The more we depend on these devices the more their creators program them to run our daily lives and at a more compact smaller size.
This brings a whole new meaning to the term, "I've go the whole world in my hands". Devices such as the iPhone, iPods, camcorder, and MP3, are so small that they fit into your hand and have a sub-card which disregards the need for hook-up cords and plugs. These are prim example of "hand held" technology.
These mobile devices give today's students, parents, teachers, business individuals, and others the yearning for a bigger and more global audience as a communication play ground. These new waves of communication will adapt the theory of "No Teacher Left Behind", as taken us beyond the classroom. I look at the classroom as a learning tool but with technology and mobile devices it will take us further than the classroom. I will broaden the horizons into other countries, in their classrooms, cultures and their ways of learning. This communication will start a new dialogue and broaden the future for everyone.
There will no longer be"paper trails" due to the computer and technology. In taking this class I have truly seem the future of why, what and how in the importance of communication with technological learning. the world is becoming smaller and smaller in that mobile devices are connecting us at a faster pace to places and people near and far and ultimately adding new technology daily to our learning experiences.
It is valuable for parents to invest in their children's technological experiences form and early age so that the child can adapt to learn at a fast and ever chaining pace. I personally started at a slower pace with learning this new way of using different mobile devices to communicate with other. However, I am now on track and moving; not fast but moving upward and increasing speed. I have no reservations in the fact that I will get there.Th more I use mobile devices the more I get to share learning experiences with others and continue to move with the future.

  1. It is so true that most people cannot go through the day without accessing technology. I am constantly using it along with my 3 year old. It's amazing how fast he can navigate through a site, checking out different educational games. We definitely are living in a digital world, and education needs to embrace this new way of learning. Thanks for sharing :)
